Norske Skog Skogn launches food packaging

Norske Skog Skogn is proud to announce that the company’s major conversion project from recycled paper to pure wood fiber is now yielding concrete results. As part of this initiative, Norske Skog Skogn is launching a new packaging product made from 100% fresh wood fiber. The product is certified for direct food contact and represents an important milestone in Norske Skog Skogn’s transformation toward sustainable solutions.

Norske Skog plans to enter the pulp market

Norske Skog will initiate a main study aiming to enter the bleached chemi-thermomechanical pulp (BCTMP) market by starting production at Norske Skog Saugbrugs in Halden. The rockslide at Saugbrugs in April 2023 causing heavy damages on the PM6 machine, released available termo-mechinalcal pulp capacity that can be utilised to produce BCTMP (bleached chemi-thermomechanical pulp) at Norske Skog Saugbrugs. Part of the investment will be covered by the portion of the insurance settlement that has not yet been paid out by the insurance company, amounting to NOK 615 million, for the development of new activities at the plant.

Tord Torvund bescomes new CFO after Rune Sollie

Tord Steinset Torvund (33) is employed as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in Norske Skog ASA from 1 March 2024, because the current CFO, Rune Sollie (57), has announced that he wishes to resign. At the same time, Norske Skog is expanding the corporate management with VP Corporate Finance, Even Lund, and SVP General Counsel, Einar Blaauw.

Reopening of “Eastern Line” celebrated!

Last week, we joined the Norwegian rail operator Bane NOR to celebrate the reopening of a railway track in Eastern Norway after years of disuse. The line will provide additional timber transportation for our Saugbrugs mill and lessen the dependence on fossil-based road transportation 🚂
